Autograph letter signed : [n.p.], to William Hayley, 1800 Apr. 10.

Apologizing for not attending to his commissions due to an inflammation of the eye, and reviewing his various projects; giving his opinion of Mr. Cumberland: "he is a very ingenious man, but grasps perhaps too many objects at once--some of his designs I think excellent--his doctrine of the harmony of lines seems very just--but he is surely not entitled to the credit of having discovered what has always been practised by good artists."
